For this April Fools–themed learning design challenge, the prompt was simple: create the most gloriously overproduced, AI‑generated, slightly unhinged eLearning experience imaginable. The goal was to build a course that looked polished at first glance but quickly revealed itself to be doing the absolute most—for no practical reason other than the joy of excess. No restraint. No subtlety. If an AI feature existed, it needed to be used.

My submission, Refrigerator Etiquette Compliance Training Powered by FridgeGPT‑900, transforms the everyday chaos of the workplace breakroom fridge into a dramatic, cinematic compliance adventure. The course treats abandoned leftovers and questionable Tupperware with the seriousness of a corporate thriller, guided by the overly confident (and slightly untrustworthy) AI narrator, FridgeGPT‑900.

To build this intentionally over-the-top experience, I leaned into a full suite of AI tools:

Freepik AI Image & Video Generators produced polished, uncanny visuals that made moldy leftovers look suspiciously glamorous.

Storyline’s AI Text‑to‑Speech created a cast of dramatic narrators, including the star of the show—FridgeGPT‑900.

Articulate Storyline served as the development hub, where I layered in animations, interactions, and effects that were intentionally “too much,” fully embracing the challenge’s spirit.

Project Summary Video

Learners navigate the sensory and emotional turmoil of opening the communal fridge: forgotten enchiladas, rainbow‑fuzz Tupperware, and Larry in Payroll’s infamous salmon noodle scroodle. Along the way, they encounter Office Manager Barb’s Comic Sans signage campaign and must decide what belongs in the fridge, what belongs in the trash, and what may be capable of independent thought.

The final product is humorous, polished, and purposefully excessive—an experiment in blending instructional design fundamentals with playful storytelling and AI‑driven creativity.
